Ø Instructional basketball fundamentals & skills will be taught in fun and informative format for K – 1st grades Ø Teams in the 2nd & 3rd Grade Instructional Leagues will have 1 hour practice followed by game Ø Teams in the remaining grades will be formed by draft to distribute the players in order to establish competitive balance by the appropriate League Coordinator and coaches. Ø Referees will be used to officiate games in Grades 4th – H.S. Ø Coaches will instruct & officiate the girls in 2nd & 3rd Grade Leagues Ø All the In-Town Leagues begin Saturday December 1st…Coaches will contact the parents with the specific times prior to the start of the season Ø It is mandatory that all coaches are certified & attend the MRC ‘Certification Clinic’ every 3 years Travel Teams: Ø There will be 7 Travel Teams offered during this basketball season; however, the Girls Basketball Commissioner can add additional teams depending on the ability and number of girls attending the try-outs for their respective grade. - 4th Grade Developmental Team- 5th Grade Travel Team - 6th Grade Travel Team- 7th Grade Travel Team- 7th Grade ‘B’ Travel Team- 8th Grade Travel Team- 8th Grade ‘B’ Travel Team Ø Girls must attend their grade specific travel team tryout Ø Players who make their respective Travel Teams may also play in the In-Town Leagues; however, they will be placed on teams after the Travel Try-outs in order to allow for competitive balance Ø Travel Teams participate in either the South Jersey Girl’s Basketball or ICBL Basketball Leagues Ø Practices are held 2 nights per week and there are 1-2 games per week depending on the league schedule Ø There will be surcharge to all players who make the Travel Teams to cover additional league expenses (TBD) If you have any questions concerning the travel program, please contact the Girls Basketball Commissioner; Jim Ruffalo, via E-mail at;horsemen24@comcast.net
