Scoopers: Pre-K & Kindergarten: no assigned teams; no limit
As a clinic format; children are introduced to the fundamental skills to play the game. Instruction in game play and positions is introduced at a beginner level. Play dates against other towns are informal and provide players with an introduction to game play in an organized situation.
1st & 2nd grade: 12-15 players per team; 7v7; modified field play;
At this level, children are provided the first opportunity to play organized games against teams from other towns. The teams at this level are “balanced” (e.g. players are assigned to teams to make all teams similar in terms of skill and competitiveness). Instruction at this level continues to emphasize basic lacrosse skills while introducing the strategy, structured plays and how to play various positions. All players will be given the opportunity to try all positions during the course of the season.
3rd & 4th grade: 12-15 players per team; 8v8; modified field play:
Instruction continues to reinforce basic lacrosse skills as well as strategy, plays, and positions. All players should get the opportunity to try different positions throughout the course of the year.
At this level, the game becomes more competitive and teams are divided by skill level. Instruction continues to reinforce basic lacrosse skills as well as strategy, plays, and positions. Players should get the opportunity to try different positions throughout the course of the year.
7th & 8th grade: 18-22 players per team; 12v12; full-field play;
These are critical years for players to fine-tune their skills and obtain maximum knowledge of the game in order to prepare for competitive high school programs. Teams will be split by skill level and attendance at practice, ability, and effort are taken into consideration. When players are placed on teams, it means that as a TEAM they can collectively compete in that bracket.
As per South Jersey Youth Lacrosse League, players must play with their appropriate grade level division unless modifications are necessary due to registration numbers. (Parents will need to sign a waiver obtained from the Marlton Girls Lacrosse for any modifications made)
Due to having a large program we can't take requests.
Upon registration, parents or guardians are asked to submit any conflicting sports or activities which may conflict with the lacrosse season to assist with scheduling.
