Soccer Registration Dollars

One of our goals is to bring additional structure from a financial perspective. We have adjusted our registration fees slightly for the Fall 2022 season to better match our costs associated with each league as we continue to find ways to effectively utilize our resources. As a volunteer-based, non-profit organization, we expect to provide “transparency” as to the use of your registration dollars which is noted below:

Top Categories of Your Registration Dollars

This is a cumulative representation of the overall "In-Town" / Recreational programs. There are differences within each program that are not noted such as the differences in registration dollars ($850 to $115), participation trophies vs. league champion only, usage of referees, and Cup Day events. All registrations from U6 to U18 share a common MRC "Technical / Registration" Fee of $15; irrespective of the cost of a particular program / league.

Standard / Consistent Costs:

  • MRC Fee: This is a standard $15 fee per registration that goes towards the operation of the Marlton Rec Council.  This fee as previously noted is the same regardless of the program or league.
  • Insurance: This has increased 12.5% to $9 and is assigned to every child participating in the soccer programs during the season as required by New Jersey Youth Soccer.  In 2012, that number was $7.  In 2013 that number went to $8...​

Varying Allocated Costs:

  • Equipment: This area covers all items that allow the games to commence and includes such components as soccer balls, goals (pug-type nets to 18x24 goals), nets, securing of goals, goal ties, cones, equipment bags, pinnies, goalie shirts, corner flags, and portable "facilities" at the various locations.
  • Uniforms: For all leagues, uniforms consist of a soccer shirt, shorts, and socks. In addition, some leagues conduct a "Cup Day" event that may include a special t-shirt.
  • Trophies: For the U6 league, all participants receive a participation trophy.  For U8 through U18 leagues, first and second place trophies are provided.  In addition, many leagues conduct a "Cup Day" event that may include medals or other commemorative item.
  • Referee Fees / Trainers: U8 through U18 leagues employ a two-person or three-person referee system where we provide payment to the referees along with securing their insurance.

For the travel program, as of 2011, a $30 fee is assigned for registration to care for the MRC fee plus allocations of facilities.  The remaining charges for the travel organization are cared for directly by each travel team.
